Andy Blueman - Sea Tides (Energetic Mix)
I’ve never asked for people to listen to my kind of music. I just post it here and if people give it a browse then cool but I’ve never urged anyone into listening because I believe it is your right to choose to listen to whatever music you want. When I pressure someone I am forcing an aesthetic upon them, like people that put on so much perfume/cologne you can smell it 10 meters away.
But today is different. If I could have 6 minutes of your life, I would like every visitor to listen to this song. It’s from Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance episode 390. When I heard it I was stunned. The uplifting melody, the synths, keyboards, the little flourishes and flashes and then the thick thick booming tunes that melt in and out just at the right places, just took me to a whole new dimension. I felt small, tiny, miniscule. My everyday problems seemed like nothing. This world was nothing. Money, power, politics… even life itself was suddenly expendable compared to this. I was in awe, before something as epic as this. No word describes this song. “Awesome”, “Sick”, “Incredible” does not even scratch the surface of the level where this track stands. It encompasses this world and the next and the afterlife. Goosebumps broke out, on my scalp, my forearms, my shin and then spread to my whole body. I felt my eyes tearing up and my fingers were shaking. I wanted to transform from my solid human body to an electromagnetic waveform and meld into its glory and be within its intricate, otherworldly pattern.
This, is good trance music.
I don’t normally express myself because normal people cannot relate and I’m embarassed to say how much I love trance and how it affects me. Normal people do not feel this strongly for their music and so I keep it quiet. But today is different. Normally people experience music to the limits of words and a certain catchy tune. “Oh he broke up with his girlfriend, I can relate to that.”, or “Oh he has found true love, so have I and I can relate to that.” This has no words, no text to guide you or bring forth from your mind an experience you are already familiar with so you live an experience you have from memory within the song you are hearing.
Clear your mind, so that it is a white sheet of paper. Pure and untouched and ready for anything. Let go of what you have been told is music. Forget about what is played on the radio, what is popular, what is “normal”. Listen and let it fill you and penetrate your being. Be one with the music. When the song goes quiet and slow, calm yourself and relax. When the music starts to build up, adding layers and layers of sound, approaching the climax, anticipate it! Feel that the chorus is about to break free. When the song picks up and soars and roars high into the sky, up up above and beyond, fly with it, chase it. The build up that grows and grows until it cannot be retained anymore and bursts into a world of sound at the chorus, damn what a feeling.
I love trance music so much, and this song is the best song I’ve heard in my life.
